WP1 is the coordination and management component of the project. It includes monitoring of progress towards deliverables and milestones, preparation of project meetings, delivering progress reports and facilitating the internal and external communication.
This workpackage develops a European farm typology based on farm characteristics and agro-ecological zones. It includes the inventory of current soil management and degradation issues associated with the major farm types.
This work package quantifies the expected impacts of alternative soil management options on the major goal variables: productivity, climate change mitigation, and soil quality. Based on this information, best management practices are formulated.
WP4 assesses the compatibility of selected best management practices with real-world farming conditions in the different agro-ecological zones and farm types. Farmer surveys in the partner countries are an important component of this work package. Collected information is integrated into a decision support tool for farmers.
This work package reviews how regulations and policies at regional, national and EU level affect the adoption of best management practices. It develops guidelines for EU and national policies that promote the adoption of sustainable soil management.
Dissemination of the project results is carried out through this work package. Information exchange with the farming and policy communities is organised via discussion groups and workshops in all partner countries, web-based information and printed materials. This work package makes the farmer decision support tool available in the partner country languages.
